How does laser hair removal work?

During laser hair removal, a specialized laser emits light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. This light energy converts to heat, effectively damaging the hair follicles within the skin. These follicles are the tiny tube-shaped sacs responsible for hair production. By targeting and damaging these follicles, laser hair removal inhibits or delays future hair growth, giving you smooth, hair-free skin for longer periods.

How should I prepare for my electrolysis appointment?

Electrolysis is a long-term commitment that can take 1-2 years for complete hair removal if appointments are consistent every 2-3 weeks. Before your appointment, avoid tweezing, threading, and waxing for 4 weeks. Acceptable hair removal methods include shaving and trimming, which should only be done 6 days before treatment. Ensure your hair is "eyebrow" length for effective treatment. Stay hydrated, and stop using dermatologist-prescribed acne medication 2 weeks before (and after) treatment unless otherwise directed by your physician. Avoid antibiotics one week before unless discussed with your physician and electrologist. Avoid heavy sun exposure, facials, and skin treatments two weeks before and after treatment. Arrive with a clean face free of makeup.

The facial hair is gone, and now I want to focus on hyperpigmentation. What should I do next?

To address hyperpigmentation, we recommend booking our chemical peel treatment. Chemical peels are most effective when done in a series of 3-6 sessions. Complete a few laser sessions first to allow sufficient time between treatments for the best results.

How do I prepare for a vajacial?

Shave the area the night before your appointment and avoid exfoliating the area for 5 days prior.

Vajacials

How often do I need to have treatment?

Laser hair removal is customized to each individual's needs. Treatments are generally recommended at intervals of 4, 6, or 8 weeks to align with the hair growth cycle. Over time, as hair growth decreases, the intervals between sessions will lengthen. For example, after a year of regular treatments, you might only need maintenance sessions every 3-4 months. Regular sessions ensure optimal results and long-lasting smoothness.

General

Is electrolysis painful?

If pain is a concern, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever 45 minutes before your appointment. A numbing agent can be applied 30 minutes prior (or as directed), and ice can be used before, during, and after treatment to alleviate pain.

Electrolysis

How long after laser can I get a vajacial?

Wait two weeks after laser treatment before receiving a vajacial to ensure your skin has adequately healed.

Vajacials

Can I combine treatments, like a facial and laser?

While we don't recommend combining facial services with laser hair removal in the same session, our signature facial services include a laser Genesis portion. This helps stimulate collagen and elastin production, improve skin texture, reduce pore size, and clear minor breakouts. Be aware that your skin may purge after a facial.

Late Arrival Policy

If you are running late for your appointment, we ask that you contact us immediately. It is important that we allow adequate time for each client's appointment while maintaining COVID social distancing guidelines.

As a courtesy, we allow a 10-minute grace period from your appointment time. Please note, clients arriving more than 10 minutes after their appointment time will be charged a $25 late fee. Clients arriving 30 minutes after their appointment time may be subject to appointment cancellation with a cancellation fee charge.

How long does the laser hair removal procedure take?

Laser hair removal is a quick and efficient process. Each laser pulse takes just a fraction of a second and can treat multiple hairs simultaneously. The laser can cover an area approximately the size of a quarter every second. Small areas, like the upper lip, can be treated in about 20 minutes, while larger areas, such as the back or legs, may take up to an hour. You'll be in and out before you know it, ready to enjoy your day with smooth skin!

Are there any side effects to electrolysis?

Ingrown hairs may occur at the start of treatment but shouldn't be a concern as they will diminish over time.

You can get a vajacial once a month, ensuring it's scheduled at least two weeks before or after your laser treatment for the best results.

How can I prepare for my visit?

Preparation is key to achieving the best results from your laser hair removal sessions. Avoid tweezing, plucking, waxing, or electrolysis for 4-6 weeks before your appointment, as these methods temporarily remove the hair roots that the laser targets. Also, avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks before and after treatment to reduce the risk of complications. Steer clear of retinol and retinol derivative products 2 weeks before and after your session. Shaving the treatment area 24-48 hours before your appointment is necessary, except for the face during your first session. This ensures the laser can effectively target the hair follicles.

What kind of electrolysis equipment does Peachfuzz use?

At Peachfuzz, we use Apilus XCell electrolysis machines for precise and effective hair removal.

Electrolysis

What products do you use for your vajacials?

We use innovative treatments from the Glo2Facial aesthetics line. The Oxfoliation™ process brings oxygen to the surface of your skin, creating O2 bubbles that exfoliate dead skin cells and brighten your complexion. The LUX feature is a gentle ultrasound experience.

Vajacials

Is there downtime with the facials?

The facials offered at Peachfuzz generally require zero downtime, except for the Procell facial, which has a brief downtime of 90 minutes.

Facials

What can I expect after my laser hair removal procedure?

Post-treatment, the treated area may appear and feel similar to a sunburn for a day or two. Cool compresses and aloe vera can help soothe the skin. If your face was treated, you can wear makeup the next day unless you experience blistering. Side effects like swelling, scarring, and blistering are rare. It's crucial to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen to prevent temporary changes in skin color. Most hair will shed within 5-14 days post-treatment. Tiny white bumps may appear but will disappear within 2-3 days. It's normal for some hair not to shed immediately.

Laser Hair Removal

Can I do electrolysis in areas other than my face?

Yes, but at Peachfuzz, we focus on treating the face, especially for gray and white hairs.

Electrolysis

How are vajacials beneficial for my laser treatments?

Vajacials complement laser hair removal by addressing hyperpigmentation and blemishes that may remain after hair removal. While laser treatments can help brighten the skin, vajacials enhance these results by targeting specific skin concerns, helping you achieve your ultimate intimate skincare goals. Together, these treatments provide comprehensive care for smooth, even-toned skin.

Vajacials

What can I expect after I get the derma peel?

Post-derma peel, your skin may feel tight, irritated, and dry, and may appear red or darkened. You might also experience purging. These are normal side effects and are expected for the next 7-10 days. Follow all instructions in the post-peel kit for optimal recovery.

Facials

What does it feel like?

Our Candela lasers feature a dynamic cooling system, making the treatment comfortable. The cooling system blasts cool air with each laser pulse, providing a soothing effect. Many clients compare the sensation to a warm rubber band snap, which is less painful than waxing. Your comfort is our priority, and we tailor each treatment plan to ensure the best experience.

Laser Hair Removal

Who should not get electrolysis?

Electrolysis is contraindicated for individuals with certain conditions, including blood disorders (e.g., hepatitis, AIDS HIV), diabetes, electronic devices (e.g., pacemaker/defibrillator, auditory devices), viral infections (e.g., herpes simplex, warts), bacterial infections (e.g., impetigo, acne vulgaris), fungal infections (e.g., ringworm), parasitic infections (e.g., scabies), keloids, pregnancy, psoriasis, and other skin conditions like rosacea, eczema, dermatitis, sunburn, cuts, abrasions, recent wounds, bruising, or any unidentifiable skin condition.

Electrolysis

How long will it last?

Hair reduction becomes noticeable within a few weeks, but achieving permanent results requires a series of treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. We recommend a package of at least 6-10 sessions for optimal results. Over time, your hair will become finer and may not grow back in certain areas. Results vary based on individual hormones and genetics, but most clients experience significant long-term hair reduction.

Laser Hair Removal

Can I do laser and electrolysis at the same time?

You can receive both treatments, but not in the same session. Since electrolysis is an add-on service for clients with white or gray facial hair, we recommend starting with 3-6 laser sessions to treat dark hairs before beginning electrolysis. Wait two weeks after a laser session to start electrolysis.

Electrolysis

What products are recommended post-laser?

Before your session, avoid chemical peels, facials, and direct sunlight. Post-session, we recommend applying Fuzz Clinic Afterglow Aloe Gel and sunscreen to protect and soothe your skin.

Laser Hair Removal

What should I do after an electrolysis treatment?

In addition to our Fuzz Clinic Ingrown Hair Serum, apply aloe and hydrocortisone to soothe the treated area and prevent possible scabbing.

Electrolysis

Who should consider laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is an excellent option for anyone seeking to reduce unwanted hair and achieve smooth, long-lasting results. It's particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with stubborn hair, ingrown hairs, or conditions like hirsutism and PCOS. However, laser hair removal is not recommended for everyone. Those who are pregnant, taking certain medications (such as specific acne treatments and antibiotics), have genital herpes (HSV-2) or are prone to cold sores, have keloid scars, or have had skin cancer should avoid this treatment. Always consult with a healthcare provider to determine if laser hair removal is suitable for you.

Laser Hair Removal

I’ve had 10 laser sessions. Should I still continue to get treatments?

Yes, even after multiple sessions, maintenance treatments are beneficial. These won't be as frequent but may be needed 3-4 times a year. Remember, laser hair removal is a hair reduction method, not a permanent removal solution. The laser weakens hair follicles and slows growth. Over time, maintenance treatments help keep hair growth minimal.
